2005 Ford Mobility Mustang by Tiger Racing

FOR SALE

Tiger Racing is a privateer, sports car racing team. We have run a 2003 Ford Mustang in SPEED World Challenge in the GT class for the past two years with the support of Ford Advanced Powertrain, a research and development department within Ford Motor Company. Our race car has a Tremec 6-speed, electrohydraulically controlled transmission out of the Aston Martin Vanquish. The transmission and shifter system have been provided to the team by Advanced Powertrain to allow Carol Hollfelder, our driver, who happens to be a paraplegic, to drive the car with hand controls. Custom, racing brake/throttle controls were designed for the car by her father, Tom Hollfelder.

Carol has also acted as spokesperson for Ford Mobility Motoring for the past few years. Mobility Motoring is the division of Ford that reimburses buyers who purchase a new Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle up to $1,000 for the purchase and installation of adaptive equipment like hand controls and hearing alert devices. Mobility Motoring has promoted Tiger Racing's World Challenge car thru their website ( www.FordMobilityMotoring.com) and at various events such as the Woodward Dream Cruise. Working together with them, Tiger Racing has built a 2005 Mustang GT concept car.

The idea behind this show vehicle is to open people's eyes to the range of possibilities available to people with disabilities. Many assume that very few vehicles can be made accessible. This is untrue. Almost any vehicle can be fitted with some adaptions. While there are those people who do need the extensive modifications you'd find in a typical van conversaion, many others can still get into the sports car of their dreams. All it takes are brake/throttle hand controls designed for the street from a company like Mobility Products & Design. Tiger Racing's Mustang GT demonstrates this fact.
